SHELTER FROM THE STORM

Guidelines

1.  SfS residents will attend NA/AA meetings daily with staff approval.

2.  SfS residents will sign-out on the  resident board any time they leave the property for any reason giving specific information as to time out, location, and time in.

3.  SfS residents will get a sponsor and begin working the first step with that sponsor immediately. They will also read the first 103 pages of the NA Basic Text and/or the first 164 Pages of the AA Big Book, immediately.

4.  SfS residents will journal daily in a journal given upon arrival, including documentation of meetings attended daily. SfS residents will attend the meditation meeting on Wednesdays at 6pm in the basement  while in SfS

5.  SfS residents will absolutely not drive a vehicle. This means no driving. There will be no need, as rides to meetings are easy; all you have to do is ask. Getting to work is also not a problem as you will not be working during this program. However, you may begin a job search by paper and phone on the first working day after arrival.

6.  Sponsors are encouraged to visit with staff approval. SfS residents will not have any visits with anyone without staff approval 24 hours in advance, once they attend the Family Program, which occurs every other month, visitation will open.

7.   SfS residents will attend both morning and evening meditation meetings at the house. These occur at 10am Monday through Friday and 10pm Sunday through Thursday.

8.   SfS residents will have access to the first floor & basement, including telephone, between morning and evening meditation. There will be no access to cell phones.

9.  SfS residents will be up and dressed ready to go not later than 8am and have lights out no later than 12am weekdays. Add one hour to each for weekends and holidays. Also, TV hours are the same in both programs.

10.SfS residents will not smoke in the apartment. During program hours, please step outside to smoke and use appropriate containers for butts.

11.SfS residents will respect one another and notify staff if there are any personal issues themselves or others.  This is a very dangerous time for all residents in this program. Please allow your humility to show by working on your honesty and trust especially with the staff. This is so we can help you to the best of all our collective ability.

12.While in SfS, House policies need to be complied with in full. Please become aware of all policies, including the chore policy. Do not feel or believe that you understand the implications of each of these policies without asking staff. If you are not entirely sure, please ask. There are no excuses for violating any policy after an explanation.

This is a new program approach designed to help individual addicts through their compulsion. Please help us to help you by talking with us openly about what is going on in you life and in your mind and heart. Please let us know how we and this program are helping or hindering your recovery attempt this time around.
